February Favorites

Another month over! While January seemed endless, February, by comparison, was over in a flash. Usually, I don’t like it when time flies, but I’m more than ready to say goodbye to winter! Is it spring yet?!

With another month done, it’s time for my monthly favorites! Today I’m sharing my top five beauty products. Last month I also wrote about my style and lifestyle favorites, but this month I decided to forgo the style and travel aspects of my blog to focus exclusively on beauty. I found that beauty was the easiest for me to talk about and, most importantly, to take photos of. That doesn’t mean I won’t ever bring style or travel back to the blog. For now, I’d rather focus on one topic than bounce back and forth between three. I also decided to narrow my favorites to five total items to keep things simple for you and for me. As you know, I’m a sucker for rambling!

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

I’m the laziest person when it comes to taming my frizzy, curly hair. Hair oil and dry shampoo are the only two haircare products I ever bother with. This year, a goal of mine is to expand my small haircare repertoire. For now, I’m still stuck with the only two hair products I know how to use. I was on the hunt for a new hair oil and stumbled upon the this one from L’Oréal. I’m a big fan of their Elvive range so I knew this hair oil would be a hit. This hair oil is fantastic! My hair feels light, airy, and as soft as can be. Soft, silky hair in a bottle. That’s how I would describe the L’Oréal Elvive Hair Oil. My hair hasn’t felt or looked this healthy in months! I apply a few pumps on this onto the ends of my hair either after a shower or when it’s dry and I need a touch of shine. This oil doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it look greasy. I find that I can be as liberal as I want when I apply this oil since it’s fairly lightweight. It’s easy to use and makes a huge difference!

Glossier You

Perfumes are a rare treat for me. I only buy a new bottle every year or so. My last big perfume purchase was the Miss Dior Eau de Parfum nearly two years ago. That’s how infrequently I invest in perfume! I just can’t justify having more than two or three in my collection. They’re so expensive! A full-size bottle typically costs around USD$100. To experiment with new perfumes I opt for the rollerball size. That’s why when Glossier brought out a travel-sized wax solid version of their Glossier You perfume, I knew I needed it in my life. Luckily, my sister-in-law surprised me with it for my birthday!

The Glossier You was never on my radar. I’m weary of the Glossier hype, which has become a bit of a nuisance. If you’ve read my review of the Glossier You Solid perfume, you’ll know that I initially didn’t enjoy the scent but, as time went on, I kept coming back to it. Now, I’m a full-fledged addict! Is it weird to admit that I sometimes open my Glossier You Solid just to smell it? It’s too good! While I did include my Glossier You Solid in this photo, I want to be clear that this February Favorite isn’t about the Solid. The Solid was disappointing. The scent isn’t as strong as the spray and the gorgeous pink pebble packaging is too heavy to carry around. I’m just a fan of the scent! Even though it’s expensive, the Glossier You Eau de Parfum is on my wishlist!

Fresh Beauty Rose Deep Hydration Toner

Is it cheating if I only bought this last week? I don’t care! I’m madly in love with the Fresh Beauty Deep Hydration Toner. I think we can all agree that I needed a new toner. You must be bored of the Thayers Witch Hazel and Pixi Glow Tonic by now! Though I still think those two are fab toners everyone should have in their skincare arsenal, it was time to give them a break. I went to Sephora last week on the hunt for a new one. I picked up this hydrating Fresh Beauty toner on a whim. A hydrating toner with floating rose petals?! Hell yes! This immediately became a favorite of mine! This does wonders for my skin! While hydrating skin is its main job, this toner also supposed to soften skin. It delivers on all of its claims. My skin was having a rough patch. I was dealing with pimples, rough texture and irritation that wouldn’t go away. After just a few uses, this toner got rid of all my skin woes! My skin feels velvety smooth after each use. I now use this morning and night. I can’t get enough of it!

Glossier Boy Brow in Brown

As soon as the Glossier Boy Brow in Brown came into my life earlier this month, I knew I’d found a new holy grail item. As you may remember, I already own the Boy Brow in Clear, which I loved (and still do love). However, the tinted Boy Brow is an even bigger game changer. I’m lazy with my brows. I hardly ever pluck them so I’m forced to resort to filling them in to make them look tamer than they are. Normally, I apply a bit of brow powder to a small angled eyeliner brush, run that through my brows, and then set them with a brow gel. Now, I only need one product to do it all: the tinted Boy Brow. I love how easy it is to create the illusion of fuller, bushier, tamed brows!  One step and I’m done! I’ll never go back to using brow powders or brow pencils again!

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe

Makeup hasn’t been a big deal to me this month. I can count the number of time I wore a full face of makeup on one hand. My goal for this year is to try to get back into experimenting with makeup daily. So far that hasn’t gone to plan, clearly. In good news, the times I did slap some semblance of makeup on my face I decided to opt out of my matte brown eyeshadows in favor of an old love of mine, the L’Oréal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe. It’s a gorgeous intense shimmery taupe that’s seriously pigmented! A little goes a long way! The main reason I love this eyeshadow is that it doesn’t need a primer. No joke, I can pat this on my eyelids without primer and I won’t have a single crease at the end of a long day. Not one! All other eyeshadows crease up on me within minutes if I don’t use a primer. This has never failed me even when confronted with the hottest, most humid summer days. I wish L’Oréal had properly invested in this eyeshadow range! The shade options are dismal. The only other gorgeous wearable shade is Amber Rush.

There you have it! My top five beauty favorites for the month of February. There were so many products I left out like my Beauty Blender and my Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk. What were your beauty favorites this month? Let me know in the comments!
